Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is the Mexican American journalist. Her current role is a sportscaster for ESPN, working as an anchor of SportsCenter news and hosting SportsNation. Since 2016, Collins has joined ESPN. Her mother is television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins has been bi-lingual since nine years old, a valuable talent that enabled her to get her first job working as an assistant to the producer with Univision in Miami and allowed her to work with the producers of national shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. It was the CBS subsidiary in St. Petersburg hired her in the following year as a sports reporter. After 2009, the news reporter relocated from St. Petersburg to Rio Grande Valley Texas where she worked for KNVO TV 48 Univision as well as Fox2 News. In 2009 she made the move to Rio Grande Valley, Texas and became an editor for KNVO48 Univision and Fox2 News. The duties of anchoring for weather or sports were often requested. Deportes 23 in Dallas, Univision's Dallas-affiliate station. In that station, she was given greater responsibility. She wrote pieces on Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. She produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra as anchor. She was appointed as the anchor for sports by Despierta America Deportes for their morning show. She held the same position in Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo for the UniMas Network. Antonietta's parents hail from Veracruz Mexico. They eventually were moved from Veracruz Mexico to Mexico City where she was born on 22 November 1985. There is an older sister. In 1992 her family left Mexico and moved to Miami. After a while, her parents separated and in 1995 Fabio Fajardo got married again. He died of kidney cancer in 2006. While on a trip with the family in Ohio, younger Collins took a place along with her sister. Antonietta was the senior of her high school and had a clear idea of what she wanted to do in her future career. She went to Mount Union University in order to find out if the school was suitable for her. The campus was stunning and provided the education she sought. Her studies were completed and she was accepted to the University with a degree studying media and communication studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the WRMU's 91.1FM station where she worked over the years, became an acquaintance. Mark Bergmann inspired her to have confidence and also his love for journalism deeply influenced her. She, was determined to live up to his standards and never fail him.
